Frequently Asked Questions

  • Here are some responses.

Mission Statement

Are you angry that our governments lied to take us into the illegal wars in the Middle East?

Are you worried that the "war on terror" is used to justify the destruction of our basic democratic rights and freedoms, as well as police state tactics against the Muslim community.

Are you sickened that our governments and intelligence agencies collude in the illegal use of torture and internment?

So are we, and so are many millions of others opposed to the seemingly unending wars.

This new belligerence began with the 911 attacks which, as politicians and the media proclaimed at the time, "changed everything". But despite endorsement by most western politicians and the corporate news media, the official story of the 911 attacks is uncertain and may even be entirely false.

Millions of people around the world, experts and even people involved in the official US government inquiry, have now expressed their doubts. The Chair and Vice Chair of the 9/11 Commission have gone on the record to say that the official inquiry, starved of funds, was set up to fail. Many suspect that the 911 attacks were facilitated or even orchestrated by rogue elements in Washington to justify wars which, we now know, were already in the planning stage.

Reinvestigate 911 calls for a new independent inquiry into all aspects of the 9/11 attacks. The inquiry should, in an even handed way and with no prior assumptions, look again into all the various allegations concerning the attacks, both the official Washington account of a conspiracy run by "Al Qaeda" and the various alternative accounts often described in the corporate media as "conspiracy theories".

We do not speculate about exactly what happened that day but we recognise there is a mountain of evidence from scientists, government and intelligence whistleblowers, academics, pilots, architects and engineers that seems to contradict the official explanation. Most of this evidence has not been addressed by the 911 Commission or other official investigations.

The inquiry should be well resourced and directed by individuals with impeccable independent credentials. It must have unrestricted and immediate access to all relevant officials, detainees, offices, experts, eyewitnesses, agencies, files and other records. For more details of what we expect from the new inquiry, click here (to see our comments of the possible enquiries, eg international panel, US special prosecutor, truth commission etc).

We are also concerned with the anthrax attacks which claimed to have been sent by Al Qaeda supporters but in reality came from a US military source. The culprits have never been clearly identified, and the attacks caused panic and a major distraction in Washington at a time when doubts were beginning to emerge over the official 911 story. We are also concerned that thousands of first responders at Ground Zero are suffering from serious illnesses because the American government, via the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lied about the safety of the air.

9/11 is still as relevant today as it was in 2001. It is the justification for the unending "war on terror"; for the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in which hundreds of thousands of innocent people have died, and in which toxic weapons such as depleted uranium have been used; and for the wholesale erosion of our civil liberties and traditional freedoms. More generally, it enables governments to appeal to a sense that "we" are under attack form outside forces, distracting us from issues of corruption, mismanagement and global inequality.
